1. Standing on an upturned plug

Okay, so to start off, we have what I think we can all agree on to be one of the most painful things known to man; standing on an upturned plug. There's nothing quite like that feeling of 3-pronged induced misery.

I don't know what makes it so painful. I'm guessing it's the way all your weight is spread across 3 points, and the fact that there's just no give. It's flesh and bone vs metal with flesh and bone the loser!

Its enough to ruin your day. I, for one, squeal and hop around like a madman. For the rest of the day I find myself wary of where I step, almost with my foot in charge of where it shall be placed, its pain serving as a reminder to avoid haphazard walking.

I was watching a programme about insects, and the narrator mentioned the 'Shmidt Sting Pain Index' (Wiki link). Bullet ants were the winners, if you could call it that, and their sting is equal to:

". . . fire-walking over flaming charcoal with a 3-inch rusty nail grinding into your heel."
I think we all know that's still not as bad as stepping on a plug!

What are your thoughts?
